Advocacy groups are pushing for the integration of waste segregation and eco-friendly practices into the curriculum of the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd). The Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) is piloting this initiative in three schools in Manila, Parañaque, and Pasay City, with plans to expand to more public schools. A memorandum of agreement has been signed with local governments to include environmental conservation and waste management in school curricula. The program aims to simplify concepts like waste segregation and the use of eco-friendly products for students, and ASSIST will provide training and materials to teachers.
