Nigeria: 6km charity walk to support children fighting Cancer

February 21 2024- The Okapi Children Cancer Foundation in Abuja, Nigeria, organized a 6km charity walk to raise awareness about early cancer detection in children. The seventh edition of the annual event, named “Steps to Survival for Children Fighting Cancer,” aimed to make a positive impact on the lives of children battling cancer by emphasizing the importance of early detection for improved survival rates. Lack of awareness was identified as a significant challenge in addressing childhood cancer. The foundation’s founder, Kemi Adekoya, emphasized the need for more awareness to garner support for children with cancer. Dr. Ozi Okonokhua, the Head of Management at Okapi Cancer Foundation, highlighted the event’s role in educating people about the treatability of cancer and its positive impact on raising awareness.
