February 23 2024- Women leaders and activists including Graca Machel, Michelle Obama, Melinda French Gates, and Amal Clooney have come together to address child marriage. The initiative aims to end child marriage and empower girls globally. The gathering includes sharing stories from activists, skills from leaders, and resources from funders to support initiatives that challenge cultural norms perpetuating child marriage. Memory Banda, a child rights activist from Malawi, shared her family’s story and emphasized the importance of community-led initiatives in tackling child marriage. The goal is to value all girls as full human beings and eliminate child marriage’s consequences for future generations.
