Achieving 65% Compliance in Exclusive Breastfeeding by 2025: A Pathway for Nigeria

In an interview with The Guardian Weekend, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, emphasized the numerous benefits of breastfeeding, including fostering mother-child bonding, providing essential nutrients and antibodies, and supporting early nutrition. He stressed the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and advocated for safe breastfeeding spaces in workplaces and public facilities. Pate also mentioned upcoming activities by the Federal Government to promote World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) and support breastfeeding awareness.
