Family sues Wendy’s franchise for $20 million after daughter, 11, was left ‘critically ill’

The family of 11-year-old Aspen Lamfers has filed a $20 million lawsuit against the Wendy’s franchise in Michigan after Aspen suffered permanent brain damage from eating at the restaurant. Aspen fell critically ill three days after consuming a meal at Wendy’s, experiencing symptoms such as nausea, stomach pain, fever, and diarrhea. She was later diagnosed with hemolytic uremic syndrome, leading to stage three kidney failure and permanent impairments, including paralysis and diabetes. The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of the franchise, citing health code violations discovered during inspections. Despite management changes and improved practices, Aspen’s life has been significantly impacted by the incident.
