Starting this month, families with toddlers will benefit from new childcare funding, saving an average of £3,600 annually. The UK government is extending 15 hours of free childcare to all children aged nine months and older, with the aim of reducing costs for families. This initiative is part of a broader plan announced in March 2023 by former Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, which will eventually provide 30 hours of free childcare per week to all working parents with children under five by September 2025. The current extension primarily benefits higher-income families who already use formal childcare.
