January 18 2024- A mother and her 2-year-old child in Utah narrowly escaped tragedy after being struck by a car blinded by the sun. Bridgette Ponson was walking in a parking lot when the accident happened. Though her 3-year-old managed to crawl out from under the car, Ponson was trapped on top of her younger child. Over 20 high school students and a United States Airman rushed to the scene, captured on surveillance cameras, and worked together to lift the car. Senior airman Dominique Childress assisted in pulling the mother and toddler to safety, with the mom eventually holding the car on her back as they lifted it. Childress, who was picking up his own children at the time, was asked to help by his child’s teacher.
