State Superintendent Intervenes in EBR Superintendent Search

< 1 min read

Louisiana State Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley has intervened in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s superintendent search following a prolonged impasse. In a letter sent on Friday, July 19, Brumley urged the school board’s president and vice president to meet with him within 72 hours to resolve the standstill and discuss a way forward. He emphasized the critical responsibility of the board in appointing a superintendent and expressed concern over the delay, stating it has left students and the community in uncertain circumstances just weeks before the school year begins. The board’s recent nine-hour meeting ended without selecting a superintendent, as both finalists had withdrawn their applications. The deadline for the board to decide on a superintendent is July 23.
