I-CAR has launched the I-CAR Academy as a replacement for its outdated Professional Development Program Education Edition (PDPEE), aiming to enhance educational offerings for collision repair programs. Raven Hartkopf, a collision technology professor at Collin College in Texas, praises the new curriculum for its specificity and alignment with ASE-accredited classes. The Academy features five core areas with a badging system akin to video game achievements, making it easier for instructors to integrate into their teaching. Hartkopf appreciates the improved website functionality and grading system, which includes knowledge and skill assessments with clear rubrics. The Academy will be available to shops starting in August, targeting technician recruitment and retention.
