Sorority sisters praised as heroes for rescuing mother and her children

< 1 min read

Five sorority sisters from the University of Georgia have been praised as heroes for rescuing a mother and her two young sons from a sinking vehicle. On March 15, Molly McCollum, Jane McArdle, Eleanor Cart, Clarke Jones, and Kaitlyn Lannace were on their way to Savannah when they noticed a car crash into a creek. The mother, Cori Craft, had lost control of her SUV, which began sinking with her two sons inside. The sisters immediately called 911 and jumped into the cold water to help. They managed to rescue the older son quickly but had to work together to free the younger son, who was unconscious. Jones, a former lifeguard, performed CPR, successfully reviving the child. Their actions were recognized by the Sardis Police Department and the Burke County Sheriff’s Department, which made them honorary deputies. Reflecting on the incident, the sisters emphasized the importance of being ready to help those in need.
