February 14 2024- The Miami-Dade school district is set to expand its fleet of electric school buses with the help of a federal grant of nearly $20 million from the Environmental Protection Agency. This funding will enable the purchase of 50 new electric school buses and 16 fast chargers, effectively doubling the number of green school buses in the district to 100. The initiative aims to promote a transition to electric and low-emission school buses, contributing to a healthier environment for children by reducing emissions. EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan expressed support for this effort in a press release.
