A 75-year-old barber in Awka, Nwankwo Nweke, was arrested by the Anambra government for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl. The girl’s parents reported the incident to the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare. Despite efforts to combat rape and defilement, such crimes persist. The girl’s father recounted how the suspect, a neighbor, lured her into his room while she was out buying provisions. The girl was later found to have been defiled after being taken to the hospital.
