Biden’s plan to increase educator pay could mean fewer kids in class

< 1 min read

March 7 2024- The Biden administration is considering a substantial pay increase for early childhood educators in the Head Start program, which serves children from low-income families. The proposed plan by the Department of Health and Human Services aims to raise the annual salaries of some educators by over $10,000 on average. Additionally, it includes minimum pay requirements for other Head Start staff, like janitors and classroom aides, along with added benefits such as mental health support. However, concerns have been raised that implementing these pay increases may lead to significant cuts in available classroom spots for high-need children.
