February 16 2024- A study focused on six New England high schools navigating post-pandemic challenges found that moving away from a “college for all” approach and deciding whether to maintain COVID-era leniency were key themes. The schools, chosen for their track record of innovation, primarily served students of color and those on free and reduced-price lunch. The study highlighted the schools’ efforts to offer students multiple pathways to postsecondary success beyond traditional college routes, without compromising academic rigor. The schools were also grappling with the effectiveness of accommodations provided during remote learning and the return to in-person instruction.
