Recent test scores in South Carolina reveal that students are struggling in reading, writing, and math, with results from the 2023-2024 SCREADY assessments showing mixed outcomes. In English Language Arts (ELA), 53% of students met or exceeded grade-level expectations, maintaining the same level as last year and improving from 45% in 2019. However, in math, only 42% of students met grade-level expectations, a slight improvement from 41% last year but still below the pre-pandemic level of 45%.
