A tragic incident occurred on August 2, 2024, at a Southern Maryland Blue Crabs baseball game in Waldorf, Maryland, when a bounce house became airborne due to a gust of wind. The bounce house, carrying a group of children, was lifted approximately 15 to 20 feet into the air before it fell onto the playing field. A 5-year-old boy from La Plata, Maryland, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a children’s hospital, where he later died. Another child sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized. Emergency responders, including Charles County EMS personnel and volunteers, provided immediate assistance.
