Tears at What Parents Do After Finding Adopted Son Has Brother in Orphanage

< 1 min read

A Reddit post by David Keniston, a 37-year-old man, shares his emotional adoption journey from a Thai orphanage that has resonated with many online. Born in Bangkok and abandoned at birth, he spent his early years in the Pakkred Babies’ Home, where he was unaware of his biological brother living nearby. In 1988, after discovering that adoption programs in India were closed, Keniston’s parents applied to adopt him. The orphanage informed them that he could only be adopted with his younger brother. The family then decided to adopt both boys. In 1991, Keniston’s mother, grandmother, and aunt traveled to Thailand to bring them to Portland, Oregon. He fondly recalls his first experiences with American food, including eating pizza upside down. Keniston’s early enthusiasm for new experiences was evident; he approached strangers and even hugged dogs, though he had an unusual fear of ladybugs. He reflects on how he and his brother have learned to manage attachment issues, ultimately leading to personal growth.
