A jury has awarded $10 million to a Wisconsin family in a medical malpractice lawsuit nearly six years after their daughter sustained lasting brain damage during birth.

Ka’Mya Minor was diagnosed with cerebral palsy before her 2nd birthday. She is now 6 and mostly nonverbal, but she is learning how to sign and knows how to give high-fives.

“It’s an emotional thing for me to speak on because I love her and wouldn’t change her. I mean, I want her to have a normal life, but…,” said Ka’Mya’s mother, Monica Cerna.
