Tech companies are being encouraged to develop better AI tools to ease teachers’ workloads, following the UK government’s decision to provide AI models with special access to the Department for Education’s (DfE) new content bank. This £3 million initiative will offer official assessments, curriculum guidance, and teaching materials to train AI systems in creating accurate and high-quality educational content. Additionally, £1 million will be awarded to developers through a competition to create AI tools aimed at reducing tasks such as feedback and marking. This move, announced by education minister Stephen Morgan, represents a significant advancement for integrating AI into classrooms.
