A 16-year-old boy, Jahmari Reid, from Falmouth, Jamaica, tragically died after a shark attack while spearfishing on August 26. His decapitated body was discovered the following day. Jahmari, a grade 10 student preparing for grade 11 at William Knibb Memorial High School, had been known for frequenting the sea from a young age. Local fishermen reported that a large tiger shark was seen in the area, but it was not captured. This incident is noted as the first fatal shark attack in Trelawny in recent memory. Jahmari’s family and community are in mourning, with his school remembering him as a quiet and disciplined student.
