Sara Shakeri-Taylor, 39, has been charged in connection with the death of her 10-month-old daughter, Aminah. Authorities were called to their home in May after reports of an unresponsive baby. Aminah was found by her father, Sandy Sharron Gathers, 41, who was arrested that day. Despite lifesaving efforts, Aminah was pronounced dead at the hospital. The autopsy found no obvious injuries, but a toxicology test revealed a fatal amount of fentanyl in her system. Evidence collected from the scene, including baby bottles and a $1 bill, also tested positive for fentanyl. Charleston County Sheriff Kristin Graziano criticized the negligence involved, emphasizing the preventability of the tragedy.
