A recent survey revealed that 75% of principals and 74% of teachers believe the curriculum for children aged 5 to 13 is changing too rapidly. With new English and math curricula set to be implemented by 2025, significant concerns exist regarding the timeline. The 90-page draft for math will be finalized in October, leaving only three months for schools to adapt, while the 120-page English document is still under consultation. Education Minister Erica Stanford acknowledged the uncertainty in the sector and promised an implementation plan to provide guidance. The survey indicated that nearly 65% of educators feel the changes won’t meet students’ needs, and many report working well over 40 hours a week, with one in five principals exceeding 60 hours.
