Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in Virginia will start a pilot program in the 2024-25 school year to ban cellphones at seven middle schools: Frost, Irving, Jackson, Poe, Robinson, Thoreau, and Twain. This initiative aims to reduce classroom disruptions and enhance student engagement. During the week of September 2, participating students will receive Yondr pouches, which lock their phones to prevent usage. Students must bring their pouches daily to school.
