New York Man Arrested After Giving Child Fireworks That Malfunctioned, Causing Housefires on July 4

Karamjit Singh, a 33-year-old man from Levittown, New York, was charged with arson after giving an 11-year-old child fireworks that inadvertently set a shed and two homes on fire on Independence Day. According to the Nassau County Police Department, Singh instructed the child to ignite the fireworks outside his home, but they malfunctioned and ignited a nearby shed. The fire spread to Singh’s own residence and a neighboring house, causing significant damage as seen in images showing smoke and charred debris. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Singh was arrested without incident, and the child was released to a family member. He faces charges including arson, reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a child.
