Firefighter Adopts Baby Left in Florida Safe Haven Baby Box After Midnight Alarm

A Florida firefighter has adopted a baby who was safely surrendered in the state’s only Safe Haven baby box, after an alarm alerted him while he was on duty during the early hours of January 2 in Ocala. Officials say the infant was placed in the box under Florida’s Safe Haven law, which allows parents to safely and anonymously surrender newborns at designated locations to ensure their protection and care.
