Oklahoma Superintendent Launches Religious Liberty Initiative

< 1 min read

Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters has announced the creation of the Office of Religious Liberty and Patriotism within the State Department of Education to support teachers and students. Walters, who previously mandated the inclusion of the Christian Bible in classroom lessons, claims that schools have become central to the erosion of religious liberty. He also revealed plans to distribute over 500 Bibles to advanced placement government classrooms and aims to make Bibles available in every classroom statewide. In response, the ACLU filed a lawsuit last month on behalf of over 30 Oklahomans to block Walters’ mandate.
