Arizona School District Aapproves Major Plan Crafted by Students

Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) in Arizona recently voted to adopt a climate action plan aimed at reducing heat-trapping pollution by 50% by 2030, with further reductions in air pollution by 2040. The plan, created with input from students, was spearheaded by the Arizona Youth Climate Coalition (AZYCC), a group of young environmental advocates. The plan, which is estimated to cost $900 million, sparked debate over its expense, but students argued that long-term savings from environmental improvements would justify the investment. AZYCC plans to work with an independent consultant to refine the cost-benefit analysis as the plan is implemented.
