A quick-thinking friend, a former lifeguard and a crew of emergency service workers have united to help save a boy from drowning at a West Australian beach.
The 13-year-old had been swimming off Glenfield Beach, about 400 kilometres north of Perth near Geraldton, when he got caught in a rip and was struggling to stay above water.
Blake Webb was riding a quad bike with friends along the beach when he turned a corner to see members of the public and police “in a bit of a panic pointing out to the ocean”.
