February 20 2024- The author, a long-time resident of the City of Decatur, expresses disappointment in the recent behavior of the school community. Despite a strong sense of pride in the neighborhood, the author is embarrassed by recent actions. The community has faced and overcome challenges in the past, including poor leadership, with residents collectively pushing for positive change. However, recent incidents related to an equity issue, specifically lunch distribution, have left the author disheartened. The City of Decatur, recognized as the second richest city in Georgia, is urged to move past these issues and focus on building a positive school system for all residents.
