March 19 2024- A new study conducted by researchers in Europe and the UK suggests that fasting can offer health benefits beyond weight loss, but these benefits may only occur after more than three days of total caloric restriction. The study involved 12 healthy participants who underwent a seven-day water-only fast, during which their blood was analyzed before, during, and after fasting. The results showed significant changes in protein production across all major organs, indicating potential health improvements. According to Claudia Langenberg, an epidemiologist from Queen Mary University of London, these findings provide molecular-level evidence for the health benefits of fasting, which were previously thought to occur earlier in the fasting process.
