Taylor and Drew Deras, both neonatal intensive care unit nurses, met Ella, a premature baby born at 23 weeks, while working at Methodist Women’s Hospital NICU. They fostered and later adopted Ella after she overcame significant health challenges during her eight-month stay in the NICU. The couple’s initial care for Ella as nurses turned into a deep desire to provide her with a loving home, leading them to become her foster parents from December 2021 to November 2023.
