Starting September 11, Greek schools will enforce new regulations requiring students to keep their mobile phones in their bags throughout the school day. This policy, part of the “Cellphone in the School Bag” campaign announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, aims to reduce distractions and improve focus on learning. The new regulations are a stricter implementation of a general mobile phone ban from 2002, which was challenging to enforce. Greek officials hope these measures will enhance educational focus, although some educators emphasize the need for encouraging compliance rather than relying solely on punitive actions.
