Choose between healthy children and your looks, DG tells women

Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, Director General of Cross River Primary Healthcare Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), emphasized the importance of breastfeeding for infant health. She urged women to prioritize breastfeeding over concerns about the appearance of their breasts, highlighting the health risks associated with denying infants breast milk. Ekpenyong advocated for government policies to promote exclusive breastfeeding, including six months of paid leave for lactating mothers and one month of paid leave for fathers to assist with newborn care. She stressed that such policies would support proper infant growth and provide health benefits for both mothers and children. Additionally, Ekpenyong called for organizations to establish centers for nursing mothers to facilitate proper infant care.
