Renee Sanchez experienced a harrowing incident when her Tesla’s battery died while her 20-month-old granddaughter was trapped inside. Despite attempts to unlock the car using the phone and card keys, Sanchez was unable to access it manually due to a hidden latch issue. Firefighters were called to the scene in Phoenix, but they initially struggled to open the Tesla. Eventually, they broke a window to rescue the crying toddler from the increasingly hot car. Although shaken, the child was comforted with a firefighter’s hat after the rescue. Sanchez expressed relief that her granddaughter was safe but criticized Tesla for the lack of warnings before the battery failure.
