Geovany Alex Pineda-Echeverria, a Salvadoran migrant, was arrested by ICE for illegally entering the U.S. and committing a sex crime against a minor in Virginia. He entered the U.S. unlawfully and was arrested in 2018 for felony carnal knowledge of a child. After a deportation order in 2019, he reentered illegally in 2022 and was convicted for illegal reentry. Despite a misdemeanor conviction for sexual intercourse with a child, he was not held on an ICE detainer by Fairfax County. ICE subsequently arrested him, emphasizing public safety concerns and his repeated violations of immigration laws.
