In the first year after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, an estimated 1 in 10 abortions were provided by online-only clinics, according to new data released Thursday by the Guttmacher Institute, a nonprofit that researches reproductive health and advocates for abortion access. Guttmacher’s ongoing Monthly Abortion Provision Study for the first time shows state-level estimates of the proportions of abortions provided via medication and by online-only clinics.
